Likely to qualify for JEE Advanced
Estimate from past-year NTA marks-versus-percentile data. Actual percentile depends on your shift’s normalisation.

How to use the calculator
- Enter your expected marks out of 300. Use the official answer key and the +4 / -1 marking to count them.
- Choose your category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST).
- Enter the number of candidates in the session if you have a better figure than the default (about 12 to 14 lakh).
- Read the estimated percentile, CRL rank range, and whether the percentile would have cleared last year's JEE Advanced cutoff.
How NTA calculates JEE Main percentile
Your percentile is not a percentage of marks. It is the share of candidates in your session who scored equal to or less than you.
Percentile = 100 × (candidates in your session with a raw score equal to or less than yours) ÷ (total candidates in your session)
NTA works this out separately for each shift, then merges the results. That is why the same marks can give different percentiles in different shifts: a harder shift gives a higher percentile for the same raw score. This tool uses past-year marks-versus-percentile data rather than live shift ranks.
From percentile to rank
Once you have a percentile, an approximate rank follows from the total number of candidates:
Approximate rank = (100 - percentile) × total candidates ÷ 100
The official rank uses your best percentile across both sessions and is published only after the April session.
What the calculator cannot tell you
Shift difficulty is only known after all shifts are over, so early estimates can move by a few percentile points. Treat the result as a range, not a promise.
FAQs
Is 99 percentile the same as 99% marks?
No. 99 percentile means you scored at least as well as 99% of candidates in your session. The marks needed for it change every shift.
Which percentile counts if I write both sessions?
The better of the two. NTA uses your best percentile for the final rank list.
Why does my percentile change after NTA releases the final key?
Dropped or changed questions shift everyone's raw scores, which changes where you sit in the session.
Can I use this after a mock test?
Yes. Enter your mock score to see roughly where it would place you, then work on the section that lost you the most marks.
